Age-old healing meets modern tech.

The Zero Degree inhaler is a modern twist on the ancient practice of aromatherapy to revitalize body and mind! Unlike slow absorption or ingestion methods, the design utilizes dry inhalation because it’s the quickest way to deliver stimulants directly to the brain. Its pocket-friendly, compact size also makes it a lot more convenient. With just a simple twist, air is able to enter through openings located at the back of the inhaler & flow past its unique blend of herbal extracts. No matter where you go, all it takes is a few deep breaths for total stress relief of the mind and calming of the body.

Air that’s perfect to breathe

air_washer_1

Writing about design can sometimes teach you a couple of things. For instance, today’s product is something I’ve encountered for the first time. An Air Washer. Air washers (from what I read up) are basically humidifiers, but they work as dehumidifiers too, and they also purify the air you breathe. Usually placed as a 2-in-1 solution, an Air Washer is perfect for situations where air purity and climate control are paramount.

The Air Washer designed by Dongwook Yoon and Junyoung Hong aims at making a sculpture out of the appliance, given its niche market. Made to fit into the house it belongs in, the product goes for a geometric style, going for a shape that’s a cross between an ellipsoid and a cuboid. The controls on the top are minimal and display-centric. A secondary display on the white body comes alive too, allowing you to know the temperature/humidity level just in case the upper display is out of sight.

I personally love a few of the design choices. The secondary screen shining through the plastic adds quite a wow-element. The overall design does (to me) resemble a laundry hamper, but that’s something I’m willing to overlook, given how clean the product looks otherwise. After all, that’s what a purifier SHOULD embody, right? Cleanliness.

Aerodynamic Audio! | Star Magazine

This Beosound Wireless Speaker concept looks like it’s waiting to be cast in a SciFi movie, but no, it isn’t a UFO. It’s a pretty neat hi-end audio speaker with a cut-out in the center that spews beautifully delicious tunes in a 360° radius. The Insides show a massive all-in-one driver with a great deal of circuitry, hinting at its digital audio prowess. The outsides, however make the speaker look like it’s speeding faster than the speed of sound!

Airbending with Audio | Star Magazine

Wayback Machine

The TILT speaker takes on a new aesthetic and I for one find this very interesting. The speaker looks like a musical instrument, rather than a techy product, and personally it’s a great direction. It makes the speaker look like it knows what it’s up to! The wooden construction and the random circular pattern grill give the TILT its quirky avatar, but it’s not just that. The TILT’s speciality is that it can switch between unidirectional and omnidirectional. Face the TILT upwards and you have a speaker that throws out 360° of well-balanced audio, but if you want something more channeled, just tip it over and the speaker focuses audio in a single direction. Simple, isn’t it? Have a house party when you want to, or a personal music environment when you need to!

AirPods are now easier to find, carry and charge with this pal!

The AirPods are pretty great the way they are, but ask any designer and they’ll say that they could be much more. Ask designer Tang Gan of Pitaka and he’ll straight up tell you that the AirPods should A. Wirelessly charge, B. Have a longer battery life, and C. Not be so difficult to find inside a backpack. Combine those three insights and you get yourself the AirPodPal, an attachment that augments the abilities of the AirPods… or as Tang says, “Makes your AirPods easier to carry, charge & find”.

Designed as a neat looking carbon fiber bodied module that attaches directly to the base of your Airpod case, the AirPodPal gives your favorite earphones wireless charging abilities… a much-needed upgrade, considering the iPhone and Apple Watch both support wireless charging. Its slender body also happens to house a 1200 mAh battery which not only extends the life of your AirPods by three whole days, but also serves as an emergency power bank for your smartphone, proverbially knocking two birds with a single stone.

The AirPodPal comes housed in a sturdy carbon fiber body, giving it a visual contrast when plugged into the white plastic AirPod case. The carbon fiber makes the AirPodPal both lightweight and resilient at the same time, because after all, it needs to be as portable and sturdy as the AirPods themselves (you can conversely opt for the AirPodPal Essential, which comes with a PolyCarbonate plastic body). Snapping the AirPodPal onto your AirPod case does double its length, but not without reason. Tang justifies this increase, saying that the volume increase makes the AirPods easier to spot in a backpack “without compromising on portability”. The module comes with the same width and depth as the AirPods, still allowing it to slide into most pockets, and it even comes with a built-in clip to securely fasten it to your clothes, belt, or your backpack straps while on the go. It also means you don’t need to carry a separate power bank on you!

Those who love the great outdoors need a great watch in their life. Just as the name suggests, the Frontier series aims to be the ultimate style accessory to an active lifestyle. The only decision left to make is which one compliments your life and style.

Adorably Soft Audio | Star Magazine

This Bang & Olufsen audio concept explores the softer side of Bluetooth speakers. Its textile clad exterior gives it texture and softness you can’t keep your hands off. Better yet, it provides a protective cushion against vibrations, falls and drops. Easier and more efficient to produce in aesthetic variety, there’s a pattern and fabric to suit everyone’s taste.
