The forecast for Sony smartphones sales this financial year have been cut down to 41 million which is two million lower than was expected during the summer. This Spring Sony was expecting in the region of 50 million sales by the end of the year. Sales have also declined in Japan and Sony have said that they will no longer be making the low-end mobile phones, instead they will now be concentrating on the premium hardware. This September Sony announced the New Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the Xperia Z3 smartphone and the SmartWatch 3.
Since then Verizon confirmed that they will launch the Xperia Z3V which is its own version of the Z3 and T-Mobile will carry the standard international model. Besides the Z3V Verizon will also sell the SmartWatch 3, which is a good move for Sony regarding the presence in the US.
It appears the time is good for change for Sony, and it mobile division is now going to be run by Hiroki Totoki who will replace the current president of Sony Mobile Communication (Novemberer 16th.) And it’s not all bad news for the company either, as there has been a small 1.2% increase over the same time last year. Hopefully a fresh outlook and new blood will rejuvenate the struggling mobile division.
It has been announced that HTC One M8, and the One M7 smartphones are to get the android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in January or February 2015.
The Nexus 9 is the latest table that HTC has made with Google and it is the first mobile device to enjoy the additions of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Getting the new OS early gives HTC a touch of a lead in the market. The Google Play Edition of the HTC One will get the mobile software in November or December of this year. It is not unusual for HTC to provide their customers with the latest Android software to its devices very soon after Google has announced it to the market.
