Have you ever had one of those days where time seems to have passed you by without you having done anything with it? If so, you’re not alone. Whether you’re not getting around to the housework, or you’re struggling to complete your paid work in the allotted time, there are a few things you can do to help you get the most out of your days, so each and every night you sleep well, safe in the knowledge that you’ve had a productive day. Here, we offer some great tips on optimising your day.
Make a List
Sounds simple, but with the huge amount of “stuff” we have going on, it’s easy to forget what we’re supposed to be achieving. Whether you choose a handy app to keep track of your to-do list, or have a pen and pad with you at all times to note things down and cross them off once done, it really DOES help to have a list. Write down larger projects as smaller sections too. It helps you feel less overwhelmed by the amount of tasks and you’ll likely have a great sense of achievement when you’ve crossed each thing off your list.
Whether it’s food shopping, clothes shopping or household goods, shopping can take over our lives. Finding a place to park, getting around a busy supermarket or clothes store, then standing in line at a till whilst you wonder whether you’ve forgotten anything can take hours. There are a whole host of shopping websites offering everything from groceries to clothing online, that you can opt to “click and collect” or have delivered to your home at a time to suit you. It’ll save your stress levels (particularly if you have kids) and will almost always save you money too – as you won’t buy more than you need.
Make time for friends
Whatever your stress levels, spending time with friends and loved ones is sure to lower them. Sometimes we feel we’re too busy to socialise but getting to see that friend you kept promising to meet up with, even for an hour, will make you feel like you’ve done something good with your day.
Tidy Up Less
Sounds counterproductive, right? However, having baskets in every room in your room for clutter to go during the day will give you the opportunity to have one quick tidy up at night, and then your house is pretty much ready for the next day. If you’ve a large family, then consider delegating one basket per room before bed. You’ll be surprised at how great waking up to a tidy house feels.
Get some exercise
If you’ve been active, if only for a short time during the day, you’ll feel better about your day. You don’t have to go to the gym every day, but doing a quick walk around the block with the dog, or playing footy in the yard with the kids is likely to make your feel great and less lethargic too.
Make sure you get good sleep
In order to really get the best out of your day, you need to make sure you sleep well. Having the right mattress, pillows and bedding, and keeping your bedroom quiet and cool will help. If your bedding isn’t quite up to scratch, you can visit www.ozmattress.com.au for a mattress or bed that will make every day that little bit more productive. In addition to your bedroom being optimised for good sleep, make sure you don’t consume caffeine or stimulants before bed, and you’ll be ready and raring to go for another productive day.
